Latest innovation in retina surgery in TVRS campus in Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki once again becomes a worldwide center of knowledge of new techniques in retinal surgery during the 5th Thessaloniki International Vitreo-Retinal Summer School. 40 ophthalmologists from Iran, Abkhazia, France, Italy, Germany and Ukraine, visit Thessaloniki 22-27 Ιουνίου 2015 in order to learn from leading Greeks and foreign ophthalmologists practicing on 20 operating tables with latest technology machines, which will simulate sophisticated techniques in operations that are implemented in Papanikolaou Hospital of Thessaloniki. Initiator of the idea is the organiser Mr. Athanasios Nikolakopoulos, Chairman of the Ophthalmological Clinic "Papanikolaou" Thessaloniki. "Thessaloniki is the ideal place to train ophthalmologists. It is pan-European learning center and capital of Greece on new techniques in the retina. We want to turn Thessaloniki into a world wide training center. Instead of traveling to other countries, we invite foreigners in Greece to teach them"says Mr. Nikolakopoulos. The school conducted in English by a collaboration of internationally renowned professors from Milan, Francesco Bandello and Switzerland, Leonidas Zografos, this year for the first time addresses the Greeks. Foreigners ophthalmologists speakers from America, Geneva, Germany, France, carry their experience in Greece. According to Mr. Nikolakopoulos, "The conference has entered the curriculum of international interventions, attracting every year more and more students, while the role of the 5th International Summer School Retinal has two poles.
