LIVE: Moscow hosts V-Day Parade
Moscow is set to commemorate the 71st anniversary of Victory Day on May 9, with celebrations centering on the Red Square.
The Victory Day parade on May 9 will feature around 5,000 soldiers and 200 units of military hardware and 71 aircraft, including the multiple rocket launcher system Polonaise, the Lis combat vehicle, the Uragan and Tor-M2 missile systems, SP guns, howitzers, as well as Russian tanks, armored vehicles and self-propelled artillery.
As a landmark jubilee parade honouring Victory Day’s 71th anniversary, 2016’s ceremonies are expected to include Sukhoi Su-35 jets that took part in Russia’s military operation in Syria. This year female soldiers will take part in the march for the first time. A detailed schedule with locations and timings will soon be released.
