Amphipolis: Archaeologists have reached 3 meters from the floor
Archaeologists who excavate the burial monument of Amphipolis, will make on Friday their first attempt to enter the third chamber which remains unearthed.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Culture, the scientists have removed the sandy soils in the area behind the septal wall where the Caryatides were found.

They have already reached a depth of nearly three meters from the floor.

They also continue the surveying in order to obtain the exact geometry of the monument. Based on the final geometry will be drawn the overall study supports and shore up the monument.

This ensures the necessary technical data for the preparation of the integrated protection studies and future enhancement of the monumental ensemble.
