The campaign against cancer for 2015 focuses on four key areas

Prevention strategies aim to reduce population exposure to risk factors and include actions that guide people to healthier choices, such as smoking cessation, vaccinations, nutrition, control of occupational and environmental hazards etc.
An important parameter for the prevention of certain cancers such as breast, cervix, larynx, skin, colon and rectum, an early diagnosis and detection. Early diagnosis uses several tests to detect in time those persons who do not have a symptoms but have the disease. Such tests are for example PAP test (Pap smear) and mammography.
Extremely important is to guarantee all citizens access to early diagnosis programs of cancer. Also, a staffing health services with trained personnel to provide comprehensive and effective treatment of cancer equally and without charge of the patient.
It is necessary to have in each country a National Programme on Cancer, which will put emphasis on prevention and early diagnosis to cancer can be cured, as well as improving the quality of life of patients with cancer.
Towards this direction requires a nationwide log of cancers, which will be an important weapon in Public Health since:
• It will gather data on morbidity and mortality
• We will confirm and analyze the incidence of cancers grouped
• You can contribute to making the National Cancer Policy
• It will help develop programs of Public Health and the use of resources.
Greece was until recently the only country in the European Union that did not have such a file. But by June 2008 began operating the National Archive Cancer (IF) after preparation of the National Action Plan for Cancer through the Ministry of Health (2007).
The World Day Against Cancer is an opportunity to make clear to the public the importance of cancer prevention, which will be the stimulus for a dynamic approach to actions to address.
