The Pan-Pontian Federation of USA and Canada, Inc. invites you to the following events related to the Greek Genocide by the Ottoman Turks.

For the eighth consecutive year the Greeks and Philhellenes of the Metropolitan New York area will honor the memory of the 353,000 victims of the Pontian Greek Genocide as well as the nearly 1.5 million Greeks of Anatolia, Thrace and Asia Minor. On May 19th (Tuesday at 12:30 pm) the Greek and Pontic flags will be displayed and flown alongside the flag of the USA at Bowling Green Park (junction of Broadway & Whitehall Str), in the center of the economic life of Manhattan as a reminder that the Pontian Greeks of the Diaspora continue their struggles for recognition of the plight of their ancestors.

On Wednesday, May 20th 2015 at Stathakion Cultural Center in Astoria, at 8:00 pm, we will hold a special event titled "The Greeks of the Diaspora, we shall not forget". The event is co-organized with the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York. At this event we have invited politicians, who support the national issues of the Greeks of the Diaspora to deliver their relative recognitions. In addition presidents from other Hellenic federations will be invited to speak on these issues. Several of the speakers from the academic conference will be present, and the entire program will be enriched by cultural exhibits.

Our Federation is also co-organizing an international academic conference on World War I and the Non- Turkish Minorities in the Ottoman Empire: Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks, in conjunction with the Asia Minor and Pontos Hellenic Research Center (AMPHRC), the Zoryan Institute and The Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center (Graduate Center, City University of New York) on May 21-22 in New York (see attached detailed program). This is a major scholarly event with presentations by US based and international academics. Seventeen (17) Scholars from around the world will be presenting original research on the Ottoman Turkish Genocides – Armenian, Assyrian, Jews and Greek –to yield new insight into the overall strategy, planning, execution and aftermath of the campaign to eliminate the native Christian populations of Asia Minor. The conference will be hosted by the prestigious Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center (Graduate Center, City University of New York) at 365 Fifth Avenue., NYC.

On the evening of May 16th a commemorative memorial vespers service and wreath laying ceremony will be held at the chapel of the Virgin Mary Soumela at 253 Marshall Hill Rd, West Milford, NJ 07480, by the Holy Institution Panagia Soumela. On Sunday May 17th memorial services will be held at the St. Catherine church in Astoria (22-30 33rd St, Astoria, NY 11105) and St George Church in Norwalk (238 West Rocks, Norwalk, CT 06851) for victims of the Pontian Genocide by the local societies "Komninoi" New York and "PONTOS" Connecticut respectively.
