HRC Ioannina local branch participates in training on the reception and hosting of refugees
As the Epirus region is preparing to receive and host refugees in available facilities and inactive camps, a coordinated two-part exercise took place on 7 Match, with the participation of Samaritan volunteers from the local branch.
In the first part, which concerned the development and organization of camps, a 25-member group of HRC Samaritans erected tents. The team was informed on the technical issues that must be taken into consideration in order to be protected from severe weather conditions. The second part of the exercise involved the organization of First Aid stations along with search and rescue, and transferring multi-trauma patients to the nearest medical centers.
The exercise was attended by Ioannina branch President, Mr. Nikos Gerasimidis, and the commander of the Fire Brigade, Mr. Giorgos Havelas, who both characterized it as highly successful.
