Inaugurated the renovated Coronary Unit of the Cardiology Department of G.Papanikolaou Thessaloniki hospital, thanks to a donation by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. As stressed in Livemedia Coordinator Head of Department, Dr. John Zarifis, a significant breakthrough that decisively contributes to the hospitalization conditions of patients and work of doctors and nurses. The interventions, which were completed in the period from May to October 2016, relating to the transfer of Coronary 12-bed unit (including one for cases requiring isolation) that meets all modern standards and has auxiliary spaces the staff. Furthermore, they mounted air conditioning, ventilation and air filters that help reduce infections and be done in a better way the hospitalization of patients. They reconstructed the old areas of Cardiology, whose total capacity is 43 beds and created five triples hospital wards with 15 brand new beds with all the specifications as toilet, TV, communication with a central station. In Unit hospitalized predominantly acute coronary syndromes, including myocardial infarction, unstable angina, and heart failure and completeness exceeds 91%.
